The government is introducing a four-year integrated B.Ed programme from next year onwards with an aim to improve the quality of teachers and teaching. As we Know that teaching is the oldest and most respected profession in the society. At this time we have many challenge during teaching training course. So we have to need the revamp the teacher training course with four year. Today teacher have no interesting view point, clarity,& fundamental knowledge. So we have need with new vision for teacher education programme. Last year, the government had stated that the 2-year Bachelor of Education will be change in favour of a 4-year integrated teacher training programme.
Details of the new four-year B.Ed structure:- (2020)
- The four-year B.Ed course will be conducted in three streams A. B.Sc.B.Com.
- The course, when implemented, will save the aspirants one year since they can join it right after their Class 12, against the current system of first doing graduation and then the two-year B.Ed.
- The National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE),a statutory body responsible for coordinating teacher education, reworked the B.Ed curriculum.
- The four-year integrated teacher training B.Ed course programme will be offered in 2 levels— Pre-Primary to Primary and Upper Primary to Secondary.
- The Council has invited applications from Institutions to B.Ed Programme.
- The related universities conducting this programme will have to adapt or modify this model curriculum, as per NCTE rule.
- The four year integrated B.Ed course will be started from academic session 2019-2020.
- Now, a limited number of colleges are offering the four-year B.Ed programme.
- Students who have already completed their bachelor’s or master’s degree have a grace period wherein they can do a two-year B.Ed course or a three-year integrated B.Ed + M.Ed course.

- The Bachelor of Education is an undergraduate programme of 2-year duration catering to students who are interested in pursuing a career in teaching and related fields
- Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) is an undergraduate professional degree which prepares students to work as teachers in schools.
- The B.Ed degree is mandatory for teaching at the secondary (classes 6 to 10) and higher secondary (10+2 or classes 11 and 12).
- Candidates have to appear for the B.Ed entrance test conducted by various states and institutions. The exam is usually conducted in the month of May or June and its form can be found mostly in online mode.
- The 2-year B.Ed programme was generally divided into four semesters by the institutes and structured in a way that not only involves classroom based teaching, but also practical training and internships.
- The course can be pursued through full time, correspondence or distance learning by various universities throughout the country.
- Average course fee charged by institutes ranges from INR 30,000 to 60,000.
- The duration through distance learning will be minimum two years and maximum five years.
- Ed. degree holders can opt for careers as teaching, and working as educational writers for various newspapers, magazines, journals and websites.
