This is the new branch of criminology. His father is two criminologists. (1) Benjamin Mendelson or (2) Ven Henting, Mendelson first highlighted the word “Victims” in the Journal of Criminology in 1937, the basis of his study was Victim Criminals and their family. Before that, all the studies in criminology were done Criminals and prisoners were made on the basis, but no one made the study the basis of Victim. It was used by Benjamin Mendelson. Victimology consists of two words. “Victim” + “logos” “Victim” is the Latin word and “logo” is a Greek word that mutually means “science of the victim”
The word Victim is added by an amendment to Cr.p.c which means “person persecuted by a criminal”. Cr.p.c. Sec. 2 (wa) defines the aggrieved person (Victim). The term “Victim” traditionally means a person who is a victim of crime, but in today’s time it is defined on the basis of various types of crimes which are as follows:
- Child victims of sexual abuse.
- Victims of human trafficking.
- Victims of drug trafficking.
- Victims of mass violence.
- Victims of economic offense.
