Unlike traditional careers like teaching and nursing, the entry of female lawyers is ,except for Metropolitan cities, a sad commentary on equality of opportunity and gender considering the increasing number of entrants into the legal arena and the large number of established and well –known women lawyers, the Scenario is very encouraging and now, they are not confined to office lawyering only but are doing extremely well in various other field and specialization’s, right from Criminal to Corporate Law.

Most women lawyers do not perceive their gender to be a disadvantage or a drawback of any kind. Whether it is the younger upcoming women lawyers or the older well-established generation, women lawyers are competent, confident, effective and successful lawyers. Both the lower courts as well as the Higher courts including the Supreme Court , Women lawyers have succeeded in carrying a niche for themselves in spite of the prejudice ingrained in the system. Significantly, this is one of those fields where women are easily accepted and absorbed and face fewer chauvinists.
